A great and new Advisor for TDP Legacy Fund

Wesley Espinosa, or “Wes” as everyone knows him, has been the second Director of the Legacy Fund since its inception in 2014, after Emily Green, who was with the organization for four years. In 2018, Wes began his work with the Legacy Fund as a Local Director and later moved on to become the organization’s lead Director in 2020, supported by Bruna's excellent work during that time.

Wes is characterized by his incredible leadership capacity, always working to build bridges – and in some cases, literally -- of communication and action between communities and the environment.

He has extensive experience in managing non-governmental organizations, implementing programs for fundraising, environmental education, sustainable tourism, and collaboration between sectors. Under his direction, Legacy Fund built more than 10 kilometers of new sustainable trails and more than 600 meters of boardwalks and bridges. In addition, more than 45,000 reforested trees were successfully monitored. One of his greatest accomplishments was developing a fundraising, growth, and relationship management strategy comprised of over 44 local and international business partners and foundations.

His experience and achievements are multiple and incredible, but what continues to amaze me, every day, is his great ability to be understanding, respectful, and loving with everyone and at every moment. I value and I am motivated by his diplomacy, and his ability to lead and achieve excellent relationships and partnerships.

One day I hope to be like him, although I don't think I'll ever quite be able to fill his shoes.

Wes left Legacy Fund’s management a few weeks ago to become the current Director of Development & Partnerships for the Center for Responsible Travel (CREST), with which we are a program. For this reason, he continues to support certain tasks within the Legacy Fund, and I know that he will always continue to contribute his expertise as our New and Always Advisor.

Wes, we are happy and proud to continue having you on our team. Personally, I am grateful for the partnership and support that you continue to provide, which is what gave me the strength to take on the role you left behind. I deeply admire your decision to hand over the management of Legacy to a local person; I know that it was important for you that Legacy Fund be managed by local professionals. I truly appreciate the opportunity given, all the support, knowledge, and learning.

Together, we will keep working towards our mission.

Thank you for everything!
